Outdoor SunSpaces News

Adding an extension to your home is a very rewarding endeavour, but it can also be extremely challenging. Extensions often require planning permission and extensive (no pun intended!) building work, all of which will add to the already sizeable cost of the materials themselves.

Fortunately, there is another way. We feel that SunSpaces garden structures are the perfect alternative to standard home extensions; if you're looking for an easy, affordable way to expand your living space, our stylish, modern extensions may well be a perfect choice.

Here's why:

SunSpaces almost never require planning permission

In the vast majority of circumstances, our garden rooms can be installed without obtaining permission or consulting the local planning office beforehand. The only exceptions are listed buildings, conservation areas, and garden rooms that would encroach on property borders once built; if one of these applies to you, we recommend contacting the relevant planning authority before proceeding with the project.

You can build our garden rooms yourself - no professional help is necessary!

We specialise in DIY extensions, and even if you've no relevant experience whatsoever, you should find that constructing your garden room or veranda is a walk in the park. Each of our structures is supplied with a clear assembly guide and an instructional DVD to ensure that you know exactly what you're doing from start to finish. And if you'd rather leave the work to a professional, don't worry - we also offer a full, professional installation service!

Our glass extensions are very cost-effective

Not only will you save money on planning permission and professional contractors, but you should also find that your garden room itself costs noticeably less than if you'd bought the materials required for a full home extension. However, in spite of the reduced cost, your modern glass extension will still look fabulously stylish from the outside and feel wonderfully comfortable on the inside!

If you'd like to know more about SunSpaces, the products we offer, and the reasons why they're such a great alternative to normal home extensions, please get in touch today. You can also request a FREE design for your glass extension.
Garden rooms

SunSpaces customers have a near-infinite range of different options to choose from when purchasing their garden rooms, but one of the biggest choices you'll have to make before you install your new outdoor retreat is whether to choose fixed panels and sliding doors.

What are fixed panels?

Fixed-panel garden rooms have fixed windows and standard doors which open outwards from the structure itself. These structures are extremely secure, and many people feel that the 'framed' look is better suited to more traditional outdoor designs. We offer three standard colours here at SunSpaces (Graphite Grey, Cream, and White), but customised RAL colours are available too, allowing you to match your garden structure to the colour of your property.

What are sliding walls?

If you wish to achieve a more modern appearance with your SunSpaces garden room, you may prefer our 'sliding wall' option. These structures have glass walls which double as sliding doors - you can slide them open to let the sunshine in, and close them when the weather gets colder. Sliding wall garden rooms are ideal for creating a seamless transition between your home and your garden.

If you'd like any further information about your side panelling options, don't hesitate to give a member of our SunSpaces team a call. They will happily talk through the ideas you have for your project and be able to offer their advice on the right style of side panelling for you!

Outdoor living structures extend the use of your garden and extend the period in which you can use it. If you have a garden that needs that extra wow-factor, an outdoor living structure would be perfect for you. Not only will an outdoor space entice you to go outside more, it will also give you that extra space to relax, unwind and appreciate the outdoor surroundings, whether rain or sun.

There are a range of outdoor living structures on the market and each type of structure has different values, so depending on your style, requirements and property type, there are specific structures we would recommend. Each of the structures we recommend can be externally styled to your choice, however, when it comes to internal décor, we think a table and chairs and maybe a relaxation area works best!

Awnings

If you currently have a patio or garden area that you would like sheltering, Awnings are the perfect outdoor structure for you, suitable for rain or sun. These are great if you don’t have much space in the garden as they can be retracted when you don’t need them. Awnings are better suited to properties that get a lot of sun as they are good for protecting you from the summer heat-rays without adding that extra space that you may not desire or have.

Compact Awnings

Compact Awnings are suitable for canopying sun in the summer months! This structure would be best suited to someone who has a smaller-scaled patio/garden area they would like covered, and would be great for domestic customers.

Awning Outdoor Living Structure

Lite Awnings

Lite Awnings, however, are a larger outdoor living structure, suited to large verandas or patios. This outdoor structure comes integrated with LED lights so you really do get that wow-factor about your property. We recommend Lite Awnings to those who love being outdoors, especially in the evenings when you can really admire the aesthetic of this outdoor living structure. With their LED lights, this style is great for get-togethers, small parties, evening meals or even, reading and relaxing after a busy day.

Elite Awnings

Who knew there could be so many Awning types?  Elite Awnings are the perfect outdoor living structure if covering a very large parameter, perhaps a hotel/B&B or even someone with a very large home (jealous!!). What’s great about these Awning’s is that they use innovative technology that allows them to be opened and closed with a simple remote!

Verandas

Verandas are a fantastic outdoor living structure if you are after that Awning style but a little more protection against the elements. Verandas can be fit to almost any space and allow you to admire your garden even when it’s raining; is there any better feeling that listening to the rain? Well, you can listen to the rain from the outdoors and stay dry… perfect!

Glass Verandas

SunSpaces have an array of Veranda types to suit your preference, home, and design. Aspire Verandas add sophistication to your property, without taking up lots of space. The Glass roof of Aspire Verandas mean you can be protected from even the nastiest of weather’s. Glass Verandas can also be detached, meaning you don’t have to have it directly next to your property. If you’d like a detached outdoor living space in another part of your garden, somewhere to relax other than in your home, then Glass Verandas are for you.

Your home is completely unique to you, and we at SunSpaces want to keep it that way! We are one of the only companies in the UK who specialise in bespoke garden rooms; this means that instead of selling you a standard, 'off-the-shelf' product, we want to hear all about the ideas you have for your SunSpace so that we can help you to make those ideas a reality.

If you'd like to add a garden room to your property, here are some of the options that we can offer you:

Lots of different sizes and shapes

SunSpaces are built using a modular system that's almost infinitely customisable. We offer an extensive selection of standard sizes (see our size guide), but if you have something specific in mind, we'll be more than happy to discuss your ideas and provide a bespoke solution.

Your choice of colours

Our verandas and garden rooms can be supplied in practically any colour you like; we offer three colours as standard (Graphite Grey, Cream, and White) but if you'd like something a little more singular, we can use customised RAL colours to meet your requirements.

Top-quality flooring materials

How you floor your SunSpace is entirely up to you; however, we at SunSpaces can supply you with composite wood decking and/or porcelain paving slabs if either of these appeals to you. Both options are extremely low-maintenance, with a range of contemporary styles and colours to choose from!

TimberTech decking and PrimaPorcelain tiles

Optional accessories

We offer a huge range of accessories to complement our verandas and garden rooms, including heaters, LED spotlights, coloured sun shades, gutter covers, and a choice of roofing materials.

Anything else?

If you have any other garden room ideas that we haven't mentioned here, don't panic - we'd still love to hear about them! To discuss your garden room project with a member of the SunSpaces team, please contact us now. You can also click here to request a FREE design for your SunSpace!

We only use the best materials

Our various garden structures are made using exceptionally high-quality materials, such as rustproof aluminium, toughened glass, and extra-strong polycarbonate. This ensures that our garden rooms are as sturdy as possible.

We design your SunSpace to suit you

Many of our competitors only sell 'one-size-fits-all' solutions, but here at SunSpaces, we know that every project is different. That's why we offer a near-limitless range of different sizes, shapes, and bespoke options for your garden room.

We offer a comprehensive service

We don't just sell you the materials and leave you to get on with-it - we offer expert design advice (courtesy of our in-house architect), and we can even install your garden room for you if you wish.

We don't just sell garden rooms

As beautiful as our sun rooms are on their own, they become even more spectacular in conjunction with our low-maintenance flooring products and luxury furniture options.

We have two conveniently located showrooms

The problem with online shopping is that you don't get to see what you're buying until after you'd paid for it. If you want to take a closer look at our garden rooms before you commit to a purchase, you are more than welcome to visit one of our showrooms - we have one in CardiffSlough & St. Albans
