Outdoor SunSpaces News

Though it may seem far away during current UK weather conditions, Spring is just around the corner, which means that it's the perfect time to get your patio and garden rooms kitted out for the (hopefully) warmer seasons! Here are a few of our favourite items:

Riva Bench Set From AmbienteDirect

This modern and minimal bench set comes in both black and white, making it perfect for fans of monochromatic decor. It can also be used as both an indoor and outdoor dining solution, which means that it's particularly suitable for garden rooms, which marry the best of the two. If functional yet stylish family dining is what you're all about, then this is definitely the piece you should be investing in this spring.

Colourful Dining Chairs From Out and Out Original

These dining chair pairs will certainly inject some vibrancy into even the dullest and drab of gardens, breathing new life into a space that has just made it through the dreary winter. Mix and match the sets to create your own cool combination, either by pairing two brights together, or by combining them with the black chairs for a checkered design.

Timber Stools From Gas and Air Studios

If you love rustic, industrial design, then look no further than these beautiful handmade stools from Gas and Air. Made with timber and topped with natural slate, they would make a unique edition to any garden room or patio. Thanks to the distinctive colours and patterns in these materials, you can also be sure that no two pieces are the same, making your item truly one-of-a-kind.

Garden Tea Table From Odd Limited

This quaint little table from Odd Limited is ideal for fans of vintage chic, making it the perfect serving companion to your traditional tea and cake. If the arrival of sun and daffodils makes you want to crack out the bunting and china, then these are the designers to be watching for your next garden update.

Curved Modular Sofa Set From Primrose

Those who wish to stick to traditional wicker but add a modern twist should definitely check out some of the pieces available from Primrose, like this cosy curved sofa set. Not only does the round table fit in perfectly for all your casual dining and lounging needs, but you can also add in additional sofa sections if you need to, expanding and splitting the sofa according to the demands of your space and your number of guests.

As we have noted many times in the past, our Garden Rooms are a great way to improve both your indoor and outdoor space, providing you with an attractive area for relaxing and indulging in your favourite pastimes.

We often get questions from customers about the size of the space they have to work with, as they worry that their outdoor area isn't big enough to accommodate one of our contemporary garden rooms. If you are one of those people, or if you're simply curious about the variety of ways in which you can integrate our designs into your space,  take a look at some of these suggestions:

A Cosy Patio Nook

As you can see from the design below, it is possible for a contemporary garden room to fit a small area without looking crowded. The open design of this room gives an unrestricted view of the garden, avoiding any sense of restriction while also providing a cosy shelter with easy access to the garden.

A Bright and Open Family Space

This bright, minimal garden room provides a useful and attractive, multi-functional space, making it the perfect place for entertaining the family. By tracing the house horizontally instead of outwards, the room makes excellent use of space without taking up too much of lawn or distracting from the house itself.

A Spacious Reading Room

This light and spacious garden room cleverly wraps around the original shape of the property; providing the owner with lots of additional space without extending too far into the garden. The inclusion of sleek, sliding, glass walls also means that the occupants can easily access their garden, while it also ensures that there is an abundance of light in the room; enough for a relaxing reading session!

A Tranquil Escape

As well as home extensions, we also provide a range of detached, contemporary garden rooms. These are ideal if you would like your space to provide a refreshing escape from the rest of your home, and also allow you to create an independent, unique seating area in your garden. As you can see from the image below, this works brilliantly next to a water feature, allowing you to listen to the sounds of the water as you unwind.

A Sheltered Seating Area

Even in very small spaces, our contemporary garden rooms can provide an attractive and convenient shelter. As demonstrated by the veranda below, our rooms can be tailored to create a smooth and harmonious transition between the existing shape of the home and your new structure.

To help you create your vision, why not take advantage of our free 3D design service? This allows you to visualise the new space before installation, and discover which use of space would work best for you. For more design inspiration, follow us on Twitter.
Furnished Garden Room

Once your garden room has been installed, the next step is to find some great furniture to help you make the most of your new space. Whether you want to use your space for dining, lounging or enjoying your favourite hobby, there are a variety of options to choose from.

Wicker Chairs and Loungers

Wicker is a classic material for garden rooms, thanks to its lightweight, natural look. Due to it's popularity, it's also extremely easy to find a range of options to suit both your taste and budget; allowing you to perfectly match your pieces with your garden room.

Rustic Benches

If you're using your garden room as a hobby space, benches are a great way to add simple functionality to your work area. They can also provide a brilliant place to store all your tools and nick nacks if you invest in a piece with inbuilt storage.

Beautiful Dining Sets

Using your garden room as a dining space is always a great idea, thanks to its versatility during both summer and winter months. Whether you want to use deckchairs or modern dining room furniture, there are a multitude of ways that you can style your dining area to make it work for you.

One of the most popular uses for our structures is as a garden office room, and it isn't difficult to see why. Not only does it provide you the convenience of a dedicated, at-home work area, it also allows you to watch the world go by as you complete your tasks, placing you in a non-clinical working environment.

If you're thinking of purchasing one of our garden rooms with a view to using it as an office, or if you already have a garden room you're looking to use in this way, we have a few suggestions to help you turn it into an attractive and functional work station!

Cool Planters

While you may think that being in your garden is more than enough greenery for you, house plants can be a simple and attractive way to add some colour to any office. It also allows you to bring the outside in, creating a sense of unity and harmony between the two spaces.

We love these, modern, minimal planters, both from Etsy! The one on the right is from Pasinga, and the one on the left is from Sort London.

Get Organized

While this may seem like a more practical suggestion, that doesn't mean that it has to be boring! There are lots of cool storage accessories available these days, allowing you to keep everything in its place while adding some nice touches to your decor scheme.
This hanging copper basket from Henry & Future is ideal for keeping notebooks and letters safe, while this wooden organiser from Chocolate Creative is great for storing notes, gadgets and pens!

It all Starts With a Desk

Again, this may seem pretty obvious, but there are so many different designs available that it may be hard to make a choice! Depending on your needs, you could go for something minimal and modern that compliments the rest of your space, or you could go for a design that gives you lots of storage and handy segmenting abilities.

The Micke Workstation from Ikea is ideal for people who need a lot of storage, giving you space for, books, files and whatever decorative pieces that take your fancy. This Puro desk from Dwell is certainly one for the image-led, although you always have the freedom to add your own desktop and side table storage if you wish.

Bring me Coffee

Lets face it, if you're going to be using somewhere to work, you're going to need a hot beverage to get you through (no matter how nice your space is). Like everything featured on this post, we think that coffee breaks can be as stylish as they are essential.

Want to keep that shiny, new desk stain free? Use these pretty, copper coasters from Mia Fleur. This Cafetiere from Lakeland is also a great vessel to serve up your brew of choice in!

Thanks to our commitment to upholding a fantastic standard of customer service, previous customers have been kind enough to provide us with some words of thanks and praise. Here are just a few of their lovely comments:
  • Sara Redman from London said she was "over the moon" with her new SunSpace. She had been looking at garden rooms for a while, but was frustrated because the rear of her home was "not ideal for a straightforward standard garden room". However, we demonstrated that SunSpaces are suitable even the most challenging projects; Sara said that "the whole process was really straightforward and the Greensquares team took all the hassle factor out of the project for me."

  • Andrew Clay stated that his garden room project was "well supported from start to finish" and that our installation service was "efficient, quick and clean". He also said of his visit to our Slough showroom that "it was good to see the product on display and the staff were very helpful".

  • "The beauty of this garden room is that it can be designed to be so flexible." That's a quote from Lee Workman, a customer of ours in Cheshire. He praised our in-house architect, who helped him to "envisage how it would all look, especially with my awkward outside wall shape"; he also mentioned that "it looks even better in real life!"
