Outdoor SunSpaces News

The garden rooms that we sell here at SunSpaces have a clean, contemporary look that we personally consider to be rather a big selling point. However, the way in which you choose to decorate your garden room is entirely up to you - you don't have to feel bound to the modern, minimal look that we've discussed previously, and if your tastes favour charming vintage decor over slicker, newer stuff, then your SunSpace will still make a superb canvas for your interior design ideas.

Here are five vintage items that we think would look fabulous in one of our garden rooms:

Vintage Mirror

Dorneywood Mirror

We'll start with this beautiful free-standing mirror. The gently weathered design is sure to appeal to fans of vintage decor, and it would look fabulous in any SunSpaces garden room (particularly a white one!)

Vintage Chair
Louis Vintage Script Chair
(from Wayfair)

This beautiful chair looks like it was just shipped in from eighteenth-century Paris. Like the Dorneywood Mirror (see above), it would look particularly perfect inside one of our white garden structures.

Vintage coffee table

OH Vintage Voyager Trunk/Coffee Table
(from Houseology)

This is really two items in one. When the trunk is open, it's a handy storage unit with a stunning map design on the inside; when closed, it serves as a charming and useful coffee table.

Vintage plant pot

Round Vintage Planters

Every room looks better with a bit of greenery, and these gorgeous vintage plant pots will suit your vintage-themed garden room perfectly.

Newgate Knightsbridge Wall Clock

Finally, nothing ties a room together quite like an attractive vintage-style clock. This one ticks all the right boxes: roman numerals, ornate hands, and an ever-so-slightly-weathered look that will go wonderfully with all the other items we've mentioned today.

Verandas are an extremely popular choice for the garden right now. Thousands of Britons spent their summers under stylish glass verandas, and they've continued to sell well into the autumn months, perhaps because they allow homeowners to spend time outdoors even when the weather is rotten.

Glass Veranda

DIY glass verandas are available from countless UK suppliers, but we at SunSpaces firmly believe that our service is head and shoulders above everybody else's. For one thing, we're capable of designing a completely bespoke garden structure for your property, and we'll happily install it for you, too - how many of our competitors offer that?

But our service isn't the only thing that sets SunSpaces apart from the rest of the market. The quality of our materials is also second to none: your glass veranda will be roofed with 8mm toughened glass or, alternatively, sturdy polycarbonate sheets that come with a 10 year warranty as standard. The actual structure of your veranda will be made of high-grade aluminium.

Sunrooms for bungalows

A lot of people don't like bungalows, and some even use the word 'bungaloid' as a negative adjective for small buildings they find unsightly. However, it is the opinion of the SunSpaces team that lots of bungalows look very lovely indeed; those sweet little one-storey homes are cosy, comfortable, and - in the right hands - capable of looking just as stylish as any other home. Plus, those who live in bungalows don't have to worry about vacuuming the stairs, a perk that could make even the most squalid space seem appealing!

Of course, the main drawback of living in a bungalow is the lack of space. For some, that's a big part of their appeal (after all, why live in a mansion-sized property if it's just you, your partner, and your relatively few possessions?); other bungalow-dwellers, however, find themselves frustratingly limited by their ultra-compact homes.

But help is at hand. If you're looking to add a little extra space to your intimate one-storey abode, our sunrooms are the perfect solution!

SunSpaces' stylish, easy-to-build sunrooms are great for bungalows because...
  • They generally require no planning permission (unless built on a border)

  • They can be installed without any professional help (each one comes with an assembly guide and instructional DVD to help you get the job done)

  • They cost significantly less than conservatories

  • They look great and can be used in all sorts of ways (if you'd like some suggestions, click here)
Our sunrooms are supplied with sliding walls or fixed panels, depending on your preference. We can also help if you're looking to add a veranda to your bungalow - contact SunSpaces now to find out more!

Most of the garden structures we supply and install here at SunSpaces are attached to their parent properties in some way - usually, the veranda or garden room will be adjoined to the rear or side wall of the customer's house. However, customers do occasionally ask us if their garden rooms can be entirely detached...and the answer is yes, they can!

Adding one of our detached garden rooms to your property is a fantastic way to create a tranquil outdoor retreat that lets you retreat from the hustle and bustle of home life. This customer, for example, installed one of our verandas at the end of their garden path, using the structure to create a lovely outdoor reading nook:

Outdoor eading nook
Wouldn't you love to spend a sunny afternoon sat on that sofa, book in one hand, glass of wine in the other?

A detached garden room can serve as a peaceful personal space that in every way is entirely separate from your actual house (and all the stressful stuff that happens there). That said, your outdoor retreat doesn't have to be reserved solely for you - it can also make a great place for dinner parties, barbecues, and gatherings of friends.

We can't imagine a more perfect venue for a back garden BBQ party!
